CAR POLISHING

Car polishing is the thinning of the damaged surface layer of car paint to remove scratches. This is done using polishing compounds of varying abrasiveness and polishing discs of varying strength.

The first step in polishing is a thorough car wash. The surface of the vehicle needs to be cleaned to remove any accumulated pitch, volatile metal particles, insect stains and dirt. The entire body of the vehicle is then treated with a cleansing clay, which removes any unwashed dirt left on the surface. The condition of the vehicle can then be assessed and preparation made for polishing.

Polishing can remove up to 90% of scratches on car paint, giving your vehicle a much deeper shine and a smoother surface.

Depending on the age of the vehicle and the conditions under which it is used, car surfaces wear differently. Therefore, there are various methods and approaches to remove scratches and damage.

A HIGH GLOSS POLISH

A high gloss polish is suitable for newer cars or cars in good condition, where the exterior is still in good condition, but minor scratches and spots are visible.

A gloss polish removes surface scratches, adds depth and gloss to the paint and creates a protective layer. This car polish is a one-step polish, using a single fine-grained polishing paste and a soft polishing disc.

This service is not suitable for the removal of severe scratches, but rather for providing a shiny effect and protection (e.g. in preparation for ceramic protection or car wax installation).

Important! After polishing, the car should be coated with a body protector (e.g. car wax or ceramic protector).

RESTORATIVE POLISHING

Reconstructive polishing is suitable for removing more severe scratches, cobweb-like formations and traces of embedded dirt (bird droppings, insects, etc.) from car paintwork. This polishing service is the most popular because of the good balance between price, time and final result. The majority of scratches on the car can be removed and the gloss and depth of colour achieved is a delight.

The polishing of this car is a two-step process, i.e. two different abrasive pastes and a polishing disc are used. The first step removes scratches, followed by a corrective polishing with a finishing paste and a polishing pad that removes holograms and dents. Depending on the condition of the varnish, a restorative polish will remove 70-80% of scratches.

For information! Polishing does not remove stone stains and deep scratches that extend to the primer or metal.

DEEP POLISHING

The most thorough car polishing, or deep polishing, is the most thorough and effective of all polishes. Deep polishing is a three-stage process using three different abrasive pastes and polishing discs. Deep polishing is the most time-consuming of the above and is suitable for the most severe scratches. The only thing to consider is the thickness of the paint layer, as this determines the feasibility of the job. Deep polishing removes up to 90% of the scratches, leaving the car looking mirror-finish and like new.

Important! For deep polishing, the thickness of the lacquer coat of the car must be over 85 microns!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We advise you to read the frequently asked questions and perhaps you will find the answer for your question. Or send us your question by filling out the form below.

Polishing should be carried out regularly, for example, gloss polishing can be done 1-2 times a year. This type of polishing is considered "soft" and has almost no effect on the thickness of the paint layer. Deep polishing is done less frequently and as needed to avoid excessive wear of the varnish.

If the car has been regularly polished, a gloss or restoration polish is usually sufficient. If the car has been polished infrequently, or not at all, it will probably need a deep polish. For a more detailed assessment, contact our specialists.

Polishing can remove minor and major scratches. The only scratches that polishing won't remove are scratches that go into the car's primer or metal. Scratches on the varnish can usually be completely removed or made much less visible.
